6000 Portrairs of former State Farms
with Wojciech Mazan PROLOG Architects

State Farms, built in the 1950s, are closely linked to Poland's communist era, embodying collective work, pervasive state control, and a new rural typology where life and work were intertwined.

In 2022, architect Wojciech Mazan and I created a catalog of 6,000 former State Farm relics to study their current locations and morphologies. Using data from the National Centre for Agricultural Support and archival maps, we categorized these relics into three types based on their morphological origins.

The ortophotos introduce the rural former typologies from Lublin Voivodeship, Lubycza Krolewska Municipality, one with the bigest density former State Farms/ km²

The second category, 'Selection based on morphogenetic village type', is established on Szulc's classification with former State Farms.
As State Farms have become a foreign body in the village fabric, they have not found their category as spatial rural elements to this day
